add

All remanufactured starter orders require a core return. We include a free UPS return label in the box for your core. Simply use the box that the reman starter comes in and the labeled provided to return your core. Cores received within 30 days of the original sales order date receive 100% credit. Cores received outside of the 30 day window receive 50% credit.

How does your core bin program work?
remove
add

Cardinal Valley offers a Core Bin program to qualifying customers. In this program, we will provide you with a complimentary bin that you will use to store your starter cores in. Each time you place an order for a remanufactured starter, simply place the core in the bin. A member of the CV team will collect cores each quarter from your facility.

Signing up for our Core Bin program saves you the hassle of shipping cores back and allows you to avoid core charges upfront. However, cores that are outstanding over 6 months are subject to charges.

What is an air starter?
remove
add
An air starter (also called a pneumatic starter) is a device that uses compressed air to crank an engine and initiate combustion. Air starters are used in heavy industrial applications where electric starters are impractical due to engine size, hazardous environments, or reliability requirements. Common applications include pipeline compressors, marine diesel engines, mining equipment, and power generation turbines.
What brands of air starters does Cardinal Valley carry?
remove
add

Cardinal Valley stocks new OEM and aftermarket air starters from all major manufacturers including Ingersoll Rand, TDI (Tech Development), Austart, Pow-R-Quik, Powerstart, Kineteco. We also provide remanufactured starters, as well as spring, hydraulic, and electric starters.

What industries use air starters?
remove
add
Air starters are commonly used in the oil and gas, marine, mining, power generation, rail, and agricultural industries. Cardinal Valley has served customers in all of these industries since 1993, supplying starters for applications ranging from pipeline compressor engines to offshore vessel main engines.
What is a remanufactured air starter?
remove
add

A remanufactured air starter is a used unit that has been fully disassembled, inspected, rebuilt with new wear parts, and tested to perform like a new unit. Cardinal Valley remanufactures starters using a 3-Tier Inspection Process, replacing all O-rings, gaskets, seals, bearings, and vanes. Remanufactured starters are a cost-effective alternative to new units and carry a one-year warranty.

What engine sizes do your air starters handle?
remove
add

Cardinal Valley supplies air starters for engines ranging from under 2.0 liters (122 cubic inches) to over 1,300 liters (81,000+ cubic inches) of displacement. This covers small auxiliary engines all the way up to large pipeline compressors and marine main engines.

How do I choose the right air starter for my engine?
remove
add

The right air starter depends on several factors: engine displacement, required cranking torque, available air pressure and volume, rotation direction (clockwise or counterclockwise), and SAE flywheel housing size. Cardinal Valley's sales team is experienced in matching starters to specific engine makes and models — including Caterpillar, Waukesha, Cooper-Bessemer, Ariel, Cummins, and others. Contact us at sales@cardinalvalley.com or 540-375-4622 and we will recommend the correct unit for your application.

Do you offer emergency/rush orders?
